I enjoyed the svelte look and featherweight status of my 11-inch MacBook Air ($999, 1.6 Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB flash storage), launched last October.
The Acer Aspire can be loaded with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, discrete graphics, 4 gigabytes of memory and a 320-gigabyte hard drive.
Next is the CPU, and of course I will get the fastest possible, which is the 2.2ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T7500. 800mhz FSB and 4mb Cache, just a sidenote.
