The car should be on a level surface with the parking brake on and engine off.
"Even though the panel will not be large enough to power the entire car, it could provide enough power to switch the engine off and on when the car is stopped at a traffic light," he said.
The stop/start-enginenotifications could switch the engine off and on automatically, or they couldtrigger alerts to the driver to turn it off/on manually.
